Karmasangsthan Bank opens 290th branch in Mymensingh
Karmasangsthan Bank has expanded its reach by opening its 290th branch in Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh. The new branch was inaugurated on Saturday, 13 June 2026, at the Dhobaura Upazila Parishad hallroom.
Bijon Kanti Sarkar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, formally inaugurated the branch as chief guest.
Dr AFM Matiur Rahman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Karmasangsthan Bank and former Secretary, presided over the ceremony.
Special guests included Mohammad Salman Omar Rubel, MP for Mymensingh-1; Arun Kumar Chowdhury, Managing Director of Karmasangsthan Bank; and Md Saifur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Mymensingh.
Other attendees included Md Mostafa Kamal Majumder, Director of the Board of Karmasangsthan Bank and former Additional Secretary; Talukder Salahuddin Ahmad; Reba Rani Saha, former Additional Secretary; Md Mosharraf Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Dhobaura; Md Amirul Islam, General Manager of Karmasangsthan Bank; as well as bank officials, local journalists and community leaders.
In his welcome address, Managing Director Arun Kumar Chowdhury outlined the bank's activities, emphasising that unemployment is a challenge, not a curse.
He said Karmasangsthan Bank is working to address this challenge and contribute to the government's target of creating 10 million jobs, having already helped generate 900,000 employment opportunities.
As chief guest, Bijon Kanti Sarkar said Karmasangsthan Bank plays a vital role in creating employment opportunities for young people and fostering new entrepreneurs.
He urged residents, including members of ethnic minority communities, to use the bank's loan facilities to expand businesses and improve socio-economic conditions.
Mohammad Salman Omar Rubel, MP, described Dhobaura as a region with significant potential.
He expressed optimism that agriculture, fisheries, small businesses and other sectors will benefit from Karmasangsthan Bank's financial assistance and training, generating new employment opportunities.
He also called for a branch to be established in neighbouring Haluaghat upazila.
In his remarks as chair, Dr AFM Matiur Rahman described the inauguration of the Dhobaura branch as a milestone for Karmasangsthan Bank.
He encouraged local youth, women entrepreneurs and small business owners to access the branch's financial services and advance towards self-employment and economic empowerment.
At the conclusion, the chief guest and other dignitaries distributed loan cheques to entrepreneurs of the Dhobaura branch.
