Actress falls to death from 8th floor of Dhanmondi hospital; family claims she was pushed, husband arrested
The deceased’s family alleged that her husband, Saifullah, pushed her during a domestic dispute.
Police have arrested the husband of actress Asma Jhilik, following allegations of pushing her from the eighth floor of a hospital in the capital's Dhanmondi area, leading to her death.
Jhilik died yesterday afternoon (12 June) after falling from the eighth floor of Bangladesh Medical College Hospital.
The deceased's family alleged that her husband, Saifullah, pushed her during a domestic dispute.
When contacted, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Dhanmondi) Saddam Hossain told The Business Standard that the arrest was made based on the complaint filed by the victim's family.
"The husband has been arrested after the family filed a case. He has been sent to jail through the court," he said.
"The matter is under investigation. An autopsy has been conducted, and the exact cause of death will be known once the post-mortem report is received," the officer added.
However, Saddam Hossain said it is still unclear whether Jhilik was murdered or died after an accidental fall.
The victim's younger brother, Mozammel Haque, filed a murder case with Dhanmondi Police Station. Following the case, police arrested Saifullah and sent him to jail through a court order.
Asma Jhilik was involved in television dramas and films. She also appeared in the Dhallywood film Rangbaz, starring popular actor Shakib Khan.
