Alan Milburn calls for career education to begin from age four in England
Former UK minister Alan Milburn is calling for major changes to career education in England, including introducing children to different careers from age four and making workplace experience mandatory for students aged 14 to 16. The proposals come as 981,000 young people aged 16 to 24 were classified as NEET between April and June 2026. The report has also raised concerns over school workload, equal access, and rural placements.
