JUST debate club announces second national debate competition 2025
The Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) Debate Club held a press conference on 15 December at the JUST Student-Teacher Centre (TSC) to announce the successful conclusion of preparations for the Second National Debate Competition 2025.
At the press conference, the organisers said the two-day national competition will be held on the JUST campus on 18 and 19 December, with the grand finale and award ceremony scheduled for 20 December.
A total of 32 teams from public and private universities across the country will participate in the competition, which will be conducted in the Bangla Asian Parliamentary debate format.
Speaking at the event, Motaleb Hossain, President of the JUST Debate Club, said December symbolises victory, courage and dignity in Bangladesh's history. He said the competition aims to promote rational thinking, respect for dissent and intellectual development among young people.
"Debate is not just a competition; it is a powerful means of building civic consciousness. It sharpens rational thinking, teaches respect for differing opinions and helps create responsible and tolerant citizens," he said, adding that the initiative seeks to strengthen freedom of expression and mutual respect among the youth.
The competition is being organised with Sailor as presenting partner and The City Bank as powered-by partner. Team Data 360 is the event data solution partner.
Media partners include JBU Business, Ajker Patrika, The Business Standard, Star News, DBC Group and The Daily Campus. JBU Photographic Society, Shutter Up Photography and Aesthetic JUST will serve as photography and video partners, while Central Cafeteria is the food partner.
