After national dailies, Dhanmondi-32 also vandalised again last night
Police sources said heavy machinery, including an excavator, was later seen being used during the act of destruction, further damaging the structure
Fresh acts of vandalism were reported at Dhanmondi 32 in Dhaka following the spread of news about the death of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi last night, reports BBC Bangla, citing police.
According to BBC Bangla, the incident took place at the historic Dhanmondi 32 residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which later functioned as a museum.
Dhanmondi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Saiful Islam confirmed the information to BBC Bangla.
The building, which had already suffered extensive damage and arson in two separate attacks after 5 August, had been left largely in ruins. Last night, miscreants again carried out vandalism at the site, witnesses said.
Police sources said heavy machinery, including an excavator, was later seen being used during the act of destruction, further damaging the structure.
The latest incident occurred amid widespread unrest in the capital following the death of Sharif Osman Hadi. Angry protesters set fire to the office of The Daily Star near Farmgate after the Prothom Alo building at Karwan Bazar was vandalised and torched late Thursday night.
