ICAB elects new president and four vice presidents

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) has elected N. K. A. Mobin FCA as its new President, alongside Suraiya Zannath FCA, Md. Rokonuzzaman FCA, Muhammad Mehedi Hasan FCA, and Md. Moniruzzaman FCA as Vice President. The newly elected office bearers assumed their responsibilities on 24 June 2025 for a one-year term. The outgoing President, Maria Howlader FCA, completed her tenure.

N. K. A. Mobin FCA currently serves as Executive President and sponsor Director of Emerging Credit Rating Limited (ECRL). A Council member of ICAB since 2019, he has twice served as ICAB Vice-President. He was also Senior Vice-President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry for two consecutive years. Mr. Mobin holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Finance from the University of Dhaka and completed his articleship at Rahman Rahman Huq/KPMG. He has over 25 years of corporate experience, including key roles at Swedish/Dhaka Match, KAFCO, Novartis Bangladesh Limited, and Grameenphone Ltd. He is a government-nominated Director at Biman Bangladesh Airlines and an Independent Director at The Citizen Bank PLC. Mr. Mobin is also a Rotarian and actively involved in social and sporting organisations.

Suraiya Zannath FCA is the first woman Chartered Accountant qualified through ICAB. She is currently a Lead Governance Specialist at the World Bank (South Asia Region). With vast experience in public financial management and governance reform, she has played a significant role in promoting fiscal accountability and transparency in Bangladesh and abroad.

Md. Rokonuzzaman FCA is a Partner at ACNABIN Chartered Accountants and has over 17 years in public practice. He previously held senior finance roles at multinational companies including GSK Bangladesh. Mr. Rokonuzzaman is an active contributor to ICAB's educational initiatives and professional committees.

Muhammad Mehedi Hasan FCA is a Partner at Rahman Rahman Huq/KPMG and a member of ICAB, ICAEW (UK), ACCA (UK), and ICMAB. He has extensive experience in audit, tax, advisory, and regulatory services, and advises international investors on business entry into Bangladesh.

Md. Moniruzzaman FCA is the Managing Partner of Alam M. Zaman & Co. He previously served as Group CFO of R. M. Group and Executive Director of S. L. Group. He is a certified VAT consultant and an active figure in ICAB's Chattogram regional activities.

The newly elected leadership team is expected to work collectively to strengthen the profession, enhance governance, and promote ethical standards in Bangladesh's accounting sector.
