Emirates sets new rules for power bank usage onboard

Emirates will introduce new restrictions on the use of power banks onboard its flights from 1 October 2025, following a comprehensive safety review aimed at reducing lithium battery-related risks.
Under the new rules, passengers may carry one power bank of under 100 Watt Hours, provided its capacity rating is clearly displayed. However, the use of power banks to charge personal devices in the aircraft cabin, or charging a power bank using the aircraft's power supply, will no longer be permitted.
Accepted power banks must be kept in the seat pocket or in a bag under the seat, and may not be placed in overhead bins. They remain prohibited in checked baggage under existing regulations.
The airline cited a significant increase in customer use of power banks and a rise in lithium battery incidents across the aviation industry as the reason for the proactive safety measure.
