Passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport continue to face mounting hardships as 25 more flights were cancelled today (4 March), extending days of travel disruptions triggered by the Middle East security crisis.
The ongoing flight cancellations stem from the closure of airspace by several Middle Eastern countries -- including Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan -- following a deteriorating security situation in the region on 28 February.
According to airport sources, until 12pm, Qatar Airways had 4 flights cancelled, Kuwait Airways 2, Jazeera Airways 2, Air Arabia 8, Emirates 5, and US-Bangla Airlines 4.
With today's cancellations, the total number of scrapped flights since 28 February has reached 173.
Passengers, particularly migrant workers and business travellers bound for Middle Eastern destinations, continue to suffer due to uncertainty, lack of timely updates, and difficulties in rescheduling tickets.
Many have been forced to wait at the airport for extended hours, while others are scrambling to adjust travel plans amid the evolving situation.
Airport authorities have advised passengers to maintain close contact with their respective airlines before heading to the airport.
