Hasan takes 6 as Tigers bowl Australia out for 198 on day 1 of first Test
Taskin and Ebadot claimed two wickets each as all 10 Australian wickets fell to Bangladesh’s pace trio.
Hasan Mahmud produced a career-best six-wicket haul as Bangladesh bowled Australia out for 198 on the opening day of the first Test in Darwin today (13 August), the hosts' lowest completed Test total against Bangladesh.
The 26-year-old right-arm pacer finished with 6-55 from 17 overs, bettering his previous Test best and completing his third five-wicket haul in the format in what is only his 15th Test.
Australia, who won the toss and elected to bat, were reduced to 74-4 by lunch as Bangladesh's pace attack made early inroads. Hasan provided the breakthrough by removing Jake Weatherald for 23 before dismissing Travis Head for 22 in successive overs.

Ebadot Hossain then removed Marnus Labuschagne for one, while Taskin Ahmed dismissed Cameron Green for 13 just before lunch to leave the hosts in trouble.
Bangladesh could have had Steve Smith early as well, but Tanzid Hasan dropped him at slip when he was on two. Smith made the most of the reprieve, leading Australia's recovery and adding 56 runs with Alex Carey for the fifth wicket.
Ebadot broke that stand by dismissing Carey for 19 before Taskin bowled Beau Webster for 12. Hasan then struck twice more, removing captain Pat Cummins for nine and Mitchell Starc for one as Australia slipped to 183-8 by tea, with Smith unbeaten on 67.
Hasan returned after tea to remove Smith for 71, with the Australian batter mistiming a bouncer into the hands of Litton Das. The wicket completed Hasan's five-for before he dismissed Nathan Lyon for seven to wrap up the innings and finish with six wickets.

Australia's 198 eclipsed their previous lowest completed Test total against Bangladesh of 217, made in Mirpur in 2017. Bangladesh won that Test by 20 runs, their only Test victory over Australia before the ongoing series.
Speaking after the innings, Hasan said he had focused on maintaining his line and length, sticking to his process and executing the plans set by his captain.
The match is Bangladesh's first Test on Australian soil in 23 years, following their two-Test tour in 2003.
