Dhaka Bank, BIDA sign MoU to enable online account opening
Dhaka Bank PLC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) to integrate its services with BIDA's One Stop Service (OSS) portal.
The MoU signing ceremony was held on 19 January 2025 at the BIDA conference room in Agargaon, Dhaka. The agreement was signed by Osman Ershad Faiz, managing director of Dhaka Bank, and Air Commodore (retd) Md Shaharul Huda, executive member of BIDA, on behalf of their respective organisations.
Under the agreement, domestic and foreign investors will be able to open Dhaka Bank accounts online through the OSS portal. The integration will establish secure server-to-server connectivity, enabling faster, more transparent and hassle-free banking services as part of the investment set-up process in Bangladesh.
Speaking at the ceremony, Osman Ershad Faiz thanked BIDA for the One Stop Service initiative, describing it as a significant step towards improving the country's investment climate.
'By simplifying and digitalising business set-up procedures, the OSS portal strengthens Bangladesh's ability to attract foreign direct investment. With three decades of experience as a corporate-focused bank, Dhaka Bank is well positioned to support this national agenda by offering tailored financial services to both foreign and local investors through this integrated platform,' he said.
The event was attended by BIDA executive chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, with the rank of state minister, as the chief guest. Dhaka Bank was represented by Aklaqur Rahman, deputy managing director, along with other senior officials.
BIDA director general Jibon Krishna Saha Roy delivered a presentation on the operations of the One Stop Service, while deputy director Abu Mohammad Nurul Hayat Totul moderated the programme.
Officials said the partnership aligns with BIDA's objective of creating a unified digital ecosystem for investors and marks a step forward for Dhaka Bank in supporting a more digital, dynamic and investment-friendly economy.
