Bangladesh sets new electricity generation record at 17,200MW

Bangladesh has set a new record in electricity generation, with production reaching 17,200 megawatts at 9pm today (20 May), according to a notification issued by Power Grid Bangladesh PLC.
This surpasses the previous record of 16,794MW, which was achieved on 23 July 2025.
Power Grid Bangladesh successfully transmitted the record volume of electricity across the national grid, ensuring stable distribution throughout the country.

Officials said the milestone was made possible through coordinated efforts among power generation plants and all distribution companies involved in the sector.
