BRAC Bank wins remittance award for second consecutive year
BRAC Bank PLC has received the Remittance Award from the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment for the second consecutive year, recognising its contribution to facilitating inward remittances through formal banking channels.
The award was presented by Dr Asif Nazrul, Adviser to the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment and the Ministry of Law and Justice, to Shahrear Zamil, Head of Remittance and Probashi Banking of BRAC Bank, at a ceremony held in Dhaka on 18 December 2025, marking International Migrants' Day and National Expatriates' Day 2025.
BRAC Bank stated that the recognition reflects its efforts to simplify remittance processes for wage earners abroad by leveraging digital solutions, thereby supporting the country's economy and foreign exchange inflows.
In 2025, BRAC Bank facilitated inward remittances of wages exceeding US$2.1 billion, a milestone that contributed significantly to Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves and financial stability.
The Remittance Award acknowledges the bank's role in supporting economic growth, poverty reduction, and social development by encouraging the use of formal remittance channels.
BRAC Bank stated it aims to further strengthen overseas remittance inflows by enhancing service efficiency and encouraging the Bangladeshi diaspora to invest in the country and remit funds through regulated banking systems.
