Tarique visits BNP chairperson's Gulshan office for first time

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman visited the BNP chairperson's office in Gulshan today (28 December) for the first time.
While it started serving as the BNP chief's office in 2008, Tarique had already been in jail or exile during its entire period of operation.
"Tarique Rahman has never been to this office before. This is the first time in his life he is visiting," said Sayrul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP Media Cell.
A new office room was prepared for the BNP acting chairman on the second floor of the building.
Both the Gulshan office and the party's central political office in Naya Paltan were freshly painted and decorated before his arrival.
In addition to the chairperson's office, the party has rented a separate four-storey building on Road 90 in Gulshan to serve as a specialised election coordination centre. The building has strict security arrangements, a briefing room on the second floor, seating for various departments and a research cell.
Tarique returned to Bangladesh on 25 December, ending over 17 years in exile.
His homecoming has been marked by different activities, including a reception rally on Purbachal's 300 Feet Road and a visit to the grave of his father, former president and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman.
Yesterday (27 December), he completed his biometric formalities at the Election Commission to register as a voter in the Dhaka-17 (Gulshan) constituency.
