BEPZA signs land lease agreements as $70.66m investment confirmed
The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) has signed land lease agreements with two fully foreign-owned companies to establish new industrial units in the BEPZA Economic Zone (EZ).
The companies — DJ Copper Co Ltd and GRX Technology (BD) Co Ltd — will invest a combined US$70.66 million in light engineering and garment accessories manufacturing, creating 1,105 jobs for Bangladeshi nationals.
The agreements were signed on Monday, 17 November, at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka. Md Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion), signed on behalf of BEPZA, while Ms Zhang Na, Managing Director of GRX Technology (BD) Co Ltd, and Mr Zhang Junfeng, Managing Director of DJ Copper Co Ltd, signed for their respective companies. BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, ndc, afwc, psc, G, MPhil, witnessed the ceremony.

Thanking the investors for choosing Bangladesh — and BEPZA EZ in particular — the Executive Chairman said BEPZA has built a strong global reputation for offering a secure, business-friendly, and efficient investment environment. He noted that Chinese investors continue to show confidence in the authority owing to longstanding bilateral ties and BEPZA's consistent service standards. He also urged both companies to begin construction promptly to take advantage of the dry season, assuring full cooperation in all investment-related matters.
Under the agreement, DJ Copper Co Ltd — a Hong Kong–China-owned company — will invest US$50.66 million to produce copper wire, copper sheet, hardware, cable lines, zipper teeth, brass wire, and various electronic accessories. The company will build its factory on 21,600 sqm of land and employ 535 workers.
GRX Technology (BD) Co Ltd, also owned by Hong Kong–China investors, will invest US$20 million to manufacture garment accessories such as zippers, sliders, snap buttons, logos, and belt buckles. Its facility will be developed on 14,400 sqm of land and employ 570 workers.
The signing ceremony was attended by Abdullah Al Mamun, Member (Engineering); A N M Foyzul Haque, Member (Finance); Samir Biswas, Executive Director (Admin); Mohammad Anamul Haque, Project Director (BEPZA EZ); and A S M Anwar Parvez, Executive Director (Public Relations), among senior BEPZA officials and company representatives.
