Al-arafah islami bank launches tree plantation drive at CU

Al-Arafah Islami Bank has launched a tree plantation programme at Chittagong University as part of its nationwide 2025 greening initiative. The day-long programme was inaugurated on Sunday, 17 August, under the slogan "Let's do planned afforestation, build a green Bangladesh."
CU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md Yahia Akhter inaugurated the event, while the Bank's Managing Director (Current Charge) Mohd Rafat Ullah Khan attended as a special guest.
Speaking at the event, Mohd Rafat Ullah Khan said: "Al-Arafah Islami Bank recognises its social responsibility in protecting the environment, conserving biodiversity, and mitigating the impacts of climate change. As part of this commitment, we are supporting Chittagong University's afforestation efforts."
The Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences supervised the programme, which included rallies, seminars, and the planting of various tree species across the CU campus.
DMD of the Bank, Md Fazlur Rahman Chowdhury, CU Pro-VC Prof Dr Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan, Director of the Institute Professor Dr Md Akhter Hossain, university faculty members Prof Dr Md Kamal Hossain and Prof Dr Md Al Amin, top executives of the Bank, and a large number of students attended the event.
Al-Arafah Islami Bank undertook a nationwide tree plantation campaign in 2025 as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, aiming to promote environmental sustainability and strengthen resilience against climate risks.
