PKSF raises safe water, sanitation allocation to Tk427.26 crore
PKSF has allocated an additional Tk100 crore to strengthen its safe water and sanitation interventions, raising its total allocation for the sector in the current fiscal year to Tk427.26 crore.
PKSF said the move will support efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6).
The decision was taken at the 264th meeting of PKSF's governing body, held today at PKSF Bhaban-2 in Shyamoli in the capital.
At the same meeting, PKSF also approved an additional Tk500 crore for microenterprise development, taking the total allocation for the sector in the current fiscal year to Tk5,741.57 crore.
PKSF said its partner organisations are expected to add funds from internal and external sources to expand the overall disbursement at the grassroots. The institution said the support will help strengthen micro-entrepreneurs, generate employment and boost local economic activity.
The meeting was chaired by PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan and attended by governing body members Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain, Nurun Nahar, Farzanah Chowdhury, Dr Md Taufiqul Islam, Lila Rashid, PhD, and PKSF Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader.
