Ctg gas explosion: Death toll rises to 4
Earlier in the day, Shawon, 16, succumbed to his injuries at 7:03am at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Another burn victim of a gas explosion at a residence in Halishahar, Chattogram, died today (24 February) while undergoing treatment in Dhaka, taking the death toll from the incident to four.
The latest death was reported at 10:47pm on Tuesday night. Akter Pakhi, 30, succumbed to 100% burns, confirmed the burn institute's Resident Surgeon Dr Shawon Bin Rahman.
Earlier, Samir Ahmed, 40, who had sustained 40% flame burns, died at 11:55am at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Earlier in the day, Shawon, 16, succumbed to his injuries at 7:03am at the same institute. He had suffered 50% burns along with inhalation injuries.
Yesterday, Nur Jahan, 35, was declared dead after being brought to the burn institute at around 6pm following the explosion.
The explosion occurred yesterday morning at Halima Manzil, a six-storey building in Halishahar, according to fire service officials.
At least nine members of the same family were injured in the blast.
The victims were initially taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in critical condition and later shifted to Dhaka for advanced treatment as their condition deteriorated.
