Govt clears 22 Oct holiday for continuous 5-day Durga Puja break
Government offices to remain open on Saturday (17 October) under holiday adjustment.
Government offices will remain closed for three days from 20 to 22 October on the occasion of Durga Puja, following a decision to reschedule the upcoming holiday.
As part of the adjustment, Saturday (17 October) will be a working day for government offices.
The decision was taken at the 23rd Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat today (5 October), according to a press release from the Prime Minister's Press Wing.
The Cabinet approved a proposal to reschedule the dates of the general and executive-order holidays announced for Durga Puja.
With 23 and 24 October falling on Friday and Saturday, the weekly holidays, the Durga Puja break will effectively span five days.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet has decided to declare 7 November a public holiday every year to mark National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
It also decided to include 7 November as a "Ka" category day in the Cabinet Division's circular on the observance of national and international days, with National Revolution and Solidarity Day to be observed accordingly.
