Emirates expands autism-friendly travel rehearsal initiative to Indonesia
Emirates has launched its 'Travel Rehearsal' programme in Denpasar, as part of what the airline described as its effort to make travel more accessible for passengers with autism and sensory sensitivities.
Emirates stated that the initiative was first introduced in Dubai in 2024 with 30 families, under its 'Accessible Travel for All' strategy.
The airline added that the programme has since expanded to cities including Barcelona, Brisbane, Manila, Madrid, and Toronto, and has now been introduced in Denpasar.
To support neurodiverse passengers, Emirates stated that more than 30,000 cabin crew and ground staff have completed autism and sensory awareness training.
At Denpasar International Airport (DPS) in Indonesia, 17 participants—including eight children with autism and their guardians—took part in a guided, end-to-end airport simulation.
Emirates stated that the rehearsal familiarised families with each stage of the journey, including check-in, security screening, boarding, the inflight experience, arrival procedures, and baggage claim.
The airline added that it is promoting awareness of neurodiversity through curated content on its inflight entertainment system, ice, and will continue to roll out the Travel Rehearsal programme across its network.
