Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) has launched the country's first Dual Currency UnionPay Debit Card and Prepaid Card, which are accepted both locally and internationally.

Cardholders can now endorse up to US $12,000 yearly travel quota limit with the newly launched cards.

EBL Managing Director and CEO Ali Reza Iftekhar said "The result of the partnership is EBL introduces first Dual Currency UnionPayCard in Bangladesh. Through our partnership we will offer innovative and exciting propositions to cardholders in Bangladesh and offer them cashless and seamless banking experience."

Calling it a new milestone for the bankcard industry in the region and the history of UnionPay International's innovation in Bangladesh, Ashutosh Agrawal, head of UnionPay International (South Asia Branch), said, "Leveraging our advantages in payment technology and network, UnionPay is willing to join hands with more industry players to provide more high-quality and innovative services for more customers in Bangladesh."

In addition to the UnionPay specific offers and benefits, EBL UnionPay Debit and Prepaid cardholders will be able to avail all the regular EBL Debit and Prepaid card product propositions.

Locally, the cardholders will be able to use the Debit and Prepaid cards at all EBL ATMs and POS terminals across the country.
