EBL holds AML and CFT workshop in Chattogram

Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) organised a day-long training workshop on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) for representatives of all scheduled commercial banks operating in the district. The programme, aimed at enhancing professional skills and regulatory compliance in the banking sector, was held at The Peninsula Chittagong hotel.

Md Mostakur Rahman, Director of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), attended the event as Chief Guest. He commended EBL's proactive initiative in creating a shared learning platform to strengthen AML and CFT compliance frameworks across banks in Chattogram.

Expert resource persons from BFIU—Sajjad Hossain, Additional Director; Md Tarikul Islam, Deputy Director; and Imran Shah Omar Chowdhury, Deputy Director—conducted insightful sessions during the workshop. They provided critical updates on emerging typologies, regulatory expectations, and best practices in managing AML and CFT risks, including discussions on credit-backed and trade-based money laundering.
