The Xpander has been a staple in Mitsubishi Bangladesh's lineup for years now. Since the model's launch in 2018, it has gone through a few facelifts and now even includes a new Xpander Cross from 2023.

However, with the introduction of new features and the spiralling of the dollar crisis, the price of the Xpander received the biggest hit over the years, with the latest model being priced as high as Tk44.5 lakh as of last year. However, on 29 June, Rancon Auto Industries Limited launched the first-ever made-in-Bangladesh version of the Xpander.

This significantly cut down the vehicle's price, with it now starting at as low as Tk34 lakh, making it more competitive even with Chinese offerings in the market. In fact, it is currently the most affordable Japanese-branded vehicle available in the brand-new segment. Thus, team Wheels decided to give the Xpander a second try and take it out for a spin.

The Mitsubishi Xpander has always been about practicality, and the 2025 version continues to deliver exactly that. It is built with families in mind, ready to handle the daily carpool, grocery runs, weekend getaways, and everything in between.

From the outside, the Xpander carries a confident and well-thought-out look. The sharp headlights blend smoothly into the front end, giving it a more assertive face, while the sculpted sides and elevated 220mm ground clearance give it that slightly adventurous edge.

Around the back, you'll notice some sleek lighting details and a neatly integrated rear bumper with reflectors. It's a subtle but stylish touch that adds to the Xpander's overall clean design.

Step inside, and you're greeted with a cabin that's practical, comfortable, and easy to live with. The dashboard is clean and modern, with all the controls exactly where you'd expect them. Everything feels like it's been designed to make life simpler for the driver. At the centre, there's a 10.36-inch touchscreen that supports wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto—handy for music, navigation, or staying connected on the go.

One of the Xpander's best traits is how well it handles space. It fits up to seven people across three rows without feeling cramped. There's enough legroom and headroom to keep everyone comfortable, whether it's a short drive around town or a longer road trip. Fabric seats come standard, but there's an option to upgrade to leather, and there are soft-touch panels throughout the cabin that give it a more premium feel.

Front seats often include helpful adjustments like height and lumbar support, making it easier for drivers to find a comfy position. The second and third rows fold down, so you can easily switch between carrying passengers or loading up for a trip to the store.

Rear passengers aren't left out either—there are four AC vents in the ceiling which can ensure smooth airflow even to the third row. This is a big plus for comfort, especially on hot days, and enough to make up for the lack of a sunroof or a moonroof.

Storage is another strong point. You'll find lots of compartments throughout the interior—door pockets, cup holders, a centre console, glove box, and even a compartment under the front passenger seat. So it's easy to keep things tidy and within reach.

Under the hood, you get a 1500cc inline-four engine paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. It puts out 105 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque—enough for daily driving and occasional highway cruising. It's not built for speed, but it gets the job done smoothly and efficiently.

What really stands out is how well it handles rough roads. With high ground clearance and 17-inch wheels, the Xpander feels composed over bumps, potholes, and uneven surfaces. Even when fully loaded, it manages to stay comfortable, making it a great option for areas with less-than-perfect road conditions.

All in all, the 2025 Mitsubishi Xpander is a solid, no-nonsense family vehicle that offers great value. It's spacious, practical, easy to drive, and is now available at a price that makes it compete even with reconditioned models at this segment, while additionally providing warranty facilities. On top of that, Mitsubishi Bangladesh now offers the Xpander in four different variants– Eco, Sport, Premium and Classic– each with its unique set of features. Thus, while you're running errands in the city or heading out for a family trip, the Xpander is more than ready to handle it all, even with your extended family inside.
