EBL-GP ‘Shopno Jabe Bari’ prepaid card launched

Eastern Bank (EBL) and Grameenphone (GP) have jointly launched a co-branded Visa prepaid card titled Shopno Jabe Bari, offering customers a secure and user-friendly digital payment experience.

The card was officially launched at a ceremony held at the Grameenphone head office in Dhaka.

Speaking at the event, M Khorshed Anowar, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Retail and SME Banking at EBL, said, "The EBL–GP Shopno Jabe Bari Visa Card reflects our shared vision of financial inclusion and digital empowerment. This is more than a payment card—it's a gateway to enriching experiences that make everyday transactions more meaningful and help bring families close."

The card supports dual-currency transactions, allowing users to make seamless payments both locally and internationally. It features enhanced security with two-factor authentication and has a validity of three years.

In addition to standard transaction features, the card offers value-added benefits, including complimentary subscriptions to leading OTT platforms such as T Sports, Hoichoi, and Chorki, providing users with access to premium entertainment at no extra cost.

Key officials from both organisations attended the launch. From EBL, Shamsul Arefin, Head of Cards Compliance, Acquiring and Product Management, and Sayem Mosthafa, Head of Corporate Cards Sales and Alliance, were present. Representing Grameenphone were Farha Naz Zaman, Chief Marketing Officer; Md Iftekhar Alam, Head of Brand and Market Communications; Munia Ghani, Head of Partnerships; and S M Zahadul Arafin, Head of Emerging Accounts, among others.

This partnership highlights a growing trend in Bangladesh's financial landscape, where collaboration between the telecom and banking sectors aims to expand access to digital financial services and improve customer experiences.
