Southeast Bank widens rural reach through agent banking expansion
Southeast Bank PLC has officially launched eight new agent banking outlets under its brand Shagotom, expanding its network to deliver modern banking services to rural and semi-urban areas across Bangladesh.
The new outlets are located in Chapainawabganj, Gazipur, Manikganj, Barishal, Rajbari, and Tangail. This initiative aims to accelerate financial inclusion by extending banking access to communities outside the formal financial system.
Abidur Rahman Chowdhury, managing director (current charge) of Southeast Bank PLC, inaugurated the outlets virtually. Senior executives from the bank's head office, branch heads, and the proprietors of the new agent banking outlets also joined the ceremony online.
Southeast Bank's agent banking service, branded as Shagotom, offers both conventional and Tijarah (Islamic) banking under a single network. Customers can access a wide range of services, including account opening (savings or current), cash deposits and withdrawals, fund transfers through BEFTN and RTGS, foreign remittance collection, cheque book and debit or credit card processing, BO account opening, and share transactions.
In addition, Shagotom outlets provide micro, small, and agricultural loans with insurance benefits, utility bill payment, loan instalment collection, and government allowance disbursement. Customers can also enjoy round-the-clock digital banking through recycler ATMs at the outlets.
The launch of these eight new Shagotom outlets marks another milestone in Southeast Bank's ongoing commitment to building an inclusive financial ecosystem, and ensuring that quality banking services reach every corner of the country.
