An unidentified man died after being hit by a train at the level crossing in Dhaka's Moghbazar today (17 August).

The incident happened around 8am when the man, about 40 years old, was hit by the train bound for Kamalapur Railway Station while crossing the rail line.

Inspector Bachchu Mia, in charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Police Outpost, confirmed the matter.

The incident has been reported to the Dhaka Railway Police Station, he added.

Passersby rescued him and took him to Moghbazar Insaf Al Baraka Hospital. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to the emergency department of DMCH, where he was pronounced dead at 9am, Mohammad Jahed Hasan, one of the pedestrians who took the man to the hospital, said.
