Locals tie up, beat two youths brutally over theft allegations in Barishal

Two youths were tied up and beaten brutally by locals on allegations of stealing iron sheets from a shop in the Rahmatpur Bridge area in Babuganj upazila of Barishal today (16 March).
The incident occurred this afternoon when shop owner Md Hasan and some locals assaulted the youths, leaving them with serious injuries.
Confirming the incident, Barishal Metropolitan Police Airport Station Officer-in-Charge Zakir Sikder said, "A police investigation team visited the spot, but the suspects were released before we arrived. Theft is a crime, but so is tying up and torturing individuals. Neither party has filed a complaint."
According to reports, the accused—Mithun, son of Chan Munshi, and Linkon, son of Babul Bepari—were identified from CCTV footage after iron sheets were stolen from Seba Engineering, a shop by Rahmatpur Bridge in the area, last night (15 March).
The shop owner allegedly called them in, tied them up, and beat them severely.
The owner, Md Hasan, claimed, "Mithun and Linkon stole goods from my shop and sold them to a nearby scrap shop for Tk4,000-5,000."
