46.7% voter turnout recorded till 2pm in Barishal, polling largely peaceful

The average voter turnout in Barishal district stands at 46.7% until 2pm during the national polls and referendum today (12 February), with district administration sources reporting that voting was proceeding in a largely peaceful environment and no clashes were reported.

Mehendiganj recorded 49.3% turnout, while Uzirpur recorded 48.52% and Agailjhara 48.39%.
In Babuganj, turnout stood at 46%, followed by Bakerganj at 45%.
Banaripara recorded 44.29% and Muladi 43.5%.
The lowest turnout, 42%, was recorded in Barishal Sadar upazila until 2pm.
District administration officials said voting was proceeding peacefully in most centres, with no reports of any major untoward incidents from any area.
Those concerned express hope that voter presence may increase further in the afternoon.
