24-hour transport strike on 20 July in Ctg suspended
Earlier this week, the federation had called the strike at a press conference held at the Chattogram Press Club.

The 24-hour strike on public and freight transport scheduled for Sunday (20 July) across Chattogram region has been suspended.
The decision was announced by the Chattogram Public and Freight Transport Owners' Federation following an emergency meeting held this afternoon (17 July) at the Inter-District Bus Owners' Association office in the city's Kadamtali area.
Md Humayun Kabir Sohel, the federation's member secretary, said the decision to suspend the strike was taken as transport owners and workers' leaders have been invited to Dhaka for discussions with the government.
"Our next steps will depend on the outcomes of that meeting. For now, we've decided to keep the 20 July strike on hold," he said.
Earlier this week, the federation had called the strike at a press conference held at the Chattogram Press Club.
The program was set to begin at 6:00am on 20 July and continue until the following morning, covering Chattogram city and district, Cox's Bazar, and the three hill districts.
The strike was called in protest against what the federation described as several harmful policies affecting transport owners and workers.
These include certain provisions of the Road Transport Act 2018 that are viewed as discriminatory, a recent circular on the economic lifespan of vehicles, concerns over privatising vehicle fitness certification, and the imposition of increased advance income tax on commercial vehicles.
The federation said it will review the outcome of the upcoming discussions in Dhaka before announcing any further program.
