SSF personnel deployed at Evercare to guard Khaleda Zia under VVIP protocols
The deployment follows the government’s official declaration yesterday, designating Khaleda Zia a Very Very Important Person under Section 2(a) of the Special Security Force (SSF) Act, 2021
Members of the Special Security Force (SSF) this afternoon (2 December) started VVIP protection duties for BNP chief Khaleda Zia at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
According to BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan, SSF personnel arrived at the hospital at around 2:20pm and began their assigned duties under newly granted VVIP protocols.
The deployment follows the government's official declaration yesterday, designating Khaleda Zia a Very Very Important Person under Section 2(a) of the Special Security Force (SSF) Act, 2021.
The notification took immediate effect, allowing the ailing former prime minister to receive state-provided close protection by the elite force that guards the president and the head of government.
Khaleda Zia, who has long been suffering from multiple health complications, is currently admitted to Evercare Hospital, where security had already been tightened recently.
Around Monday midnight, additional law enforcement personnel were deployed outside the facility, and barricades were placed near the entrance.
A senior officer of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Gulshan Division confirmed that the barricades were installed after the government's decision to provide VVIP security to Khaleda Zia was finalised.
