Speaker's wife and educator Dilara Hafiz passes away in Singapore
According to family sources, her body is expected to arrive in Bangladesh tomorrow evening.
Dilara Hafiz, the wife of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, has passed away at the age of 78 while undergoing treatment in Singapore.
She was a former director general of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) and a former principal of Eden Mohila College.
She breathed her last at 11:29am Bangladesh time today (28 March) at Singapore General Hospital, confirmed BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
According to family sources, her body is expected to arrive in Bangladesh tomorrow evening.
A namaz-e-janaza will be held at the South Plaza of parliament at 11am on Monday (30 March).
Later, another janaza will be held at the central mosque of Dhaka Cantonment after Zuhr prayers.
She will be laid to rest at Banani Military Graveyard.
Dilara Hafiz had been undergoing treatment for a long time at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.
She was flown to Singapore by air ambulance on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr and was on life support at the time of her death.
She is survived by her husband, a son, a daughter, and grandchildren.
