Measles: Death toll rises to 979 as 6 more die in 24 hrs
The latest DGHS figures take suspected measles deaths to 880 and laboratory-confirmed deaths to 99.
Six more children have died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours to 8am today (1 September), taking Bangladesh's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 979, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the total deaths, 880 are suspected measles deaths, while 99 have been confirmed through laboratory testing.
The latest update also reported 1,159 new suspected measles cases, taking the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 159,150.
Meanwhile, 72 new laboratory-confirmed cases were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 19,384.
Since 15 March, 139,519 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, of whom 134,458 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
