RU reduces admission test fees, allows students to go for multiple units
The decisions were taken at a meeting of ‘admission sub-committee’, held on Monday and presided over by the Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan

Rajshahi University (RU) slashed the fee for admission test to Tk1, 200 from Tk1, 980. Besides, the university authority made a decision in favour of sitting for exams of multiple units.
The decisions were taken at a meeting of ‘admission sub-committee’, held on Monday and presided over by the Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan.
Previously, a student, seeking admission into the university, could only contest for any one unit. Admission seekers, their guardians, and teachers at RU took to the street, demanding for a change in the rule.
“RU will hold admission tests on October 20, 21, and 22 of this year,” Prof Laila Arjuman Banu, the university student adviser, said.
RU will receive applications from September 3, which will continue till September 12. Students will be able to submit their primary applications on payment of Tk55.
Admission seekers will have to pay Tk1, 200 during the final phase of the application procedure, which will begin from September 17 and will continue until September 30. Meantime, RU proctor Dr Lutfar Rahman said, admission tests will be held under Arts, Commerce, and Science units.
A student can take part for a sit in more than one unit. All tests, regardless the unit, will include 50 marks for MCQs and 40 marks for written exam.
