Election activities underway, people eager to vote: Khasru
'The people’s aspiration to elect their representatives through voting cannot be obstructed in any way,' he says
BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that election activities have already begun, and people are eagerly waiting to cast their votes.
"The national election will be held in the first half of February, ensuring the people's constitutional and democratic rights," he said while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the Zia Memorial Football Tournament at the Chattogram District Stadium this evening (24 October).
"The people's aspiration to elect their representatives through voting cannot be obstructed in any way," the BNP leader added.
Reaffirming the BNP's commitment to keeping state institutions and the sports sector free from politicisation, Amir Khasru said, "The BNP has proposed a 31-point reform plan for rebuilding the state structure, in which sports, culture, and youth development have been given special emphasis."
Highlighting the economic importance of sports, he added, sports are not merely a form of physical exercise; they are also a part of the economy.
In countries like Brazil, Australia, and many in Europe, a significant portion of the GDP comes from sports. Therefore, developing sports means developing the economy as well, he added.
