Those with no chance of winning are conspiring over national polls: Mirza Abbas
'BNP does not trade in religion. But a particular party is belittling its own religion to please another country', he says
Those with no chance of winning in the upcoming national election are the ones conspiring to disrupt it, BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas said today (24 October).
"Knowing that BNP's victory is inevitable, a few political parties are colluding with the fascist Awami League. We will not allow the rise of any other fascist force in Bangladesh," the BNP leader said while addressing a views-exchange meeting in the capital's Malibagh area.
He further said the BNP does not engage in politics based on false promises or misleading interpretations.
"BNP does not trade in religion. But a particular party is belittling its own religion to please another country," he added.
Abbas also remarked that the "perpetrators of mass killings" have fled the country after "looting and destroying" Bangladesh's economic institutions.
"They have destroyed and utterly looted all the banks, insurance, and other economic institutions in Bangladesh. This means they have tried to cripple us; they have tried to destroy Bangladesh."
He, however, cautioned that it would be wrong to assume they are "completely gone."
The event was presided over by former Dhaka South BNP organising secretary Arifur Rahman Arif, with Ramna BNP Convener Ashraful Islam and other local BNP leaders and activists in attendance.
