Jamaat chief seeks financial support from activists to win upcoming national election
The outcome of Ducsu and Jucsu elections will have an impact on the upcoming national polls, he says

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman today (20 September) urged party activists and supporters to provide financial and other assistance to help the party win in the upcoming national election.
"I call upon everyone [activists] to come forward with financial sacrifices and all forms of cooperation for the sake of victory in the national election," he said while speaking at the Majlish-e-Shura of the party's central women's wing in Dhaka's Moghbazar.
The Jamaat ameer also said that the outcome of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) and Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (Jucsu) elections will have an impact on the upcoming national polls.
"With the mercy of Allah, Islami Chhatra Shibir has won the Ducsu and Jucsu elections. This will influence the upcoming national election, Inshallah. We hope to contest in all 300 constituencies with those who love us and whom we love.
Shafiqur added that during the past 15 years of what he termed "fascist rule", many had been killed, injured, or forced to leave the country.
"Many are still undergoing treatment. We pray for their recovery," he said.
He further claimed that Jamaat leaders had endured "various forms of imprisonment and repression under the Awami fascist government," and that their sacrifices had paved the way for what he called a freer environment to work today.
Urging party workers to remain humble, he said, "One must not boast out of overexcitement. We must be humble and act as servants of the people."
