People's dissatisfaction with the appointment of advisers to the interim government will be looked into, adviser Mahfuz Alam said today (13 November).

Speaking at an event titled "Maulana Bhasani and New Bangladesh" in Tangail, he said, "We are a people appointed by the people, representing the people. If there is any dissatisfaction or reluctance among the people regarding advisers, then their [advisers] actions will have to prove that they are on the side of the people. People will judge the new advisers on their performance."

He said the interim government had many important issues to tackle and would be judged on how they manage to do so.

At the event, adviser Asif Mahmud said the interim government had been facing many issues since taking charge.

"Fascist thinking has been planted in the minds of every single person in the administration. It cannot be eradicated in a day or I think even in 10 years. An entire generation must rise up and stand against that fascist system."

He also said the past government had tried to distort history to serve their own purpose.

"We have said that there is no single father of the nation. We have many founding fathers. Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani is one of them. We want to present the true history of Bangladesh to our next generation," he added.

Azad Khan Bhasani, member secretary of Bhasani Parishad, read the article in the meeting under the chairmanship of poet and writer Farhad Mazhar. Maulana Bhasani University of Science and Technology Vice Chancellor Anwarul Azim Akhand delivered the welcome address. Secretary General of Bhasani Foundation Mahmudul Haque Sanu, central members of National Citizen Committee Sarwar Tushar and Alik Mr, Kamruzzaman Shaon of Tangail Branch of Citizen Committee, Morsheda, mother of Maruf who was killed in anti-discrimination movement, organizer of anti-discrimination movement Fatema Rahman Bithi, Abu Ahmed Shershah and others spoke. Masudur Rahman was in charge.

In the meeting, Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan announced the naming of Tangail Stadium after Maruf, the schoolboy who was shot dead during the victory procession of the students on 5 August.
