Pakistan’s president, PM, deputy PM offer condolences as Khaleda Zia passes away
Earlier, Khaleda Zia passed away this morning (30 December) while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his condolences over Khaleda Zia's death.
"Deeply saddened by the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia, Chairperson of the BNP and former prime minister of Bangladesh. Her lifelong service to Bangladesh and its growth and development leaves a lasting legacy," reads a post from his profile on X.
He added, "Begum Zia was a committed friend of Pakistan. My Government and the people of Pakistan stand with the people of Bangladesh in this moment of sorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and the people of Bangladesh during this difficult time. May Allah SWT bless her soul. Ameen!"
Also, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari also grieved the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia.
"He extends heartfelt condolences to her family & the people of Bangladesh. Her leadership & services will be remembered with respect. May her soul rest in peace," reads a statement from his X profile.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has expressed heartfelt condolences over the death of former prime minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
In a post on X, Dar said, "Heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of Begum Khaleda Zia. May Allah SWT grant her a high place in Jannah and patience to the bereaved family. Ameen."
