Freedom fighter advocate Badiul Alam remembered on 23rd death anniversary
The 23rd death anniversary of freedom fighter, politician, and advocate Badiul Alam is being observed today (10 February 2026).
Badiul Alam was born in 1926 in Fatehnagar village, Chandonaish, to the Sikder family. He completed his undergraduate degree at Calcutta University in 1946 and later obtained an LLB from Dhaka University.
During the Liberation War, he served as the Awami League regional president in Chattogram. He later became president of the Socialist Party's Chattogram South division.
After the Liberation War, he became Vice President of the Lawyers' Association in 1972 and was elected President in 1981. He also served briefly as a teacher at the Bangabandhu Law Temple, according to family and community sources.
Beyond his professional and political roles, he was associated with several organisations, including the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, the National Cancer Prevention Society, the Muslim Education Society, Chittagong Society, and the Patiya College Organising Society. He also led the activities of Kodom Mubarak Muslim Orphans Feeding throughout his life.
In his village, he helped establish the Fatehnagar Sharifunessa Nazir Uddin Girls' High School, a primary school, a madrasa, and a knowledge centre library.
To mark the anniversary, the Advocate Badiul Alam Memorial Foundation will organise a dua mahfil in Chandonaish.
