Former lawmaker Fazlul Haque passes away
He died due to old-age complications yesterday (17 March), at 5:45pm at a hospital in Dhaka
Former BNP lawmaker and Hua Thai Ceramic Managing Director GM Fazlul Haque, 79, died of old-age complications at a private hospital in the city last night (17 March) at 5:45pm.
Haque was suffering from various old-age complications for a long time.
He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore, said a press release here today, according to BSS.
Later, he was brought to the country and admitted to a private hospital in the capital, where he breathed his last, the release added.
Haque was elected as a lawmaker from Chandpur-3 constituency in 1996.
His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban South Plaza at 12pm today (18 March).
His second namaz-e-janaza will be held at Baburhat High School and College ground in Chandpur at 11am tomorrow (19 March), BSS reports.
Later, he will be buried at his family's graveyard.
He was a member of BAIRA-Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies and Managing Director of Messrs Haq Overseas Ltd, former Member of Parliament (Chandpur-3), former Panel Speaker of the Bangladesh National Parliament, former Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and a member of the central executive committee of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), according to a Facebook page of BAIRA.
