3 children die from measles, symptoms in 24 hours
So far this year, at least 38 children have died from confirmed measles infections in Bangladesh. In addition, 185 children have died with symptoms consistent with the disease
Three children died from measles and measles-like symptoms between 8am yesterday and 8am today (21 April), according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
During the same 24-hour period, 1,159 patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country, of whom 188 cases were laboratory-confirmed as measles.
So far this year, at least 38 children have died from confirmed measles infections in Bangladesh. In addition, 185 children have died with symptoms consistent with the disease.
DGHS data show that between 15 March and 21 April, a total of 3,805 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.
According to the latest health bulletin, 25,935 suspected measles cases have been reported nationwide. Of these, 14,106 patients have already been discharged after receiving treatment.
