'Ghontu': The son who was his mother's whole world
Comilla University Bangla Department Associate Professor Dr Nahida is also a writer, but Apratim was at the centre of her life.
13-year-old Ishayat Shahriar Apratim, the only son of Comilla University Bangla Department Associate Professor Dr Nahida Begum, went missing yesterday afternoon (18 September) and was found dead in a jungle in Cumilla's Kotbari area today (19 September).
For Nahida, Apritim was more than her only child–he was her whole world.
She affectionately called him "Ghontu". She spent much of her time with him while balancing her work as a university teacher and her writing. She would sometimes dress him up to match her own style, including the large bindis she often wore.

Photographs of Nahida and Apritim sharing affectionate moments have also surfaced on social media since his death.
But amid her grief, Nahida has one question: what had her son done wrong?
"He had done nothing wrong," she said, questioning why her son had to meet such a fate.
Apritim was a seventh-grader at Border Guard Public School. He was the only child of Nahida and KM Firoz Shahriar.
His body was recovered around noon from the Lalmai Sananda Pahar area in Kotbari, near Comilla University. Police said there were severe injuries to his head.
The body was sent to the morgue of Cumilla Medical College Hospital.
