No cattle market on roads

The authorities will not allow any cattle market to be set up on roads during Eid-ul-Adha.

They will also ensure strict enforcement of health directives in every market.

Cattle-laden trucks must have banners mentioning the marketplaces they are going to, according to the latest decision of the home ministry.

"Besides, cattle-laden trucks will not be allowed to make a stoppage on roads," said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday at a meeting on law and order situation over the preparation for the upcoming Eid.

Law enforcing agencies will take necessary steps to ensure health and hygiene rules at cattle markets, said a press release of the ministry.

Everyone must wear a mask, and if anyone enters a market without masks, they will have to purchase masks from the leaseholder of the cattle market, said the press release.

The leaseholders will have to ensure handwashing or hand sanitising facilities.

Meanwhile, the members of the coast guard and river police will take steps to check carrying extra passengers on ferries and launches ahead of the Eid.

They will also keep vigilance to prevent overloading of cattle on vessels, the minister said in the meeting.

The law enforcing agencies, like in every year, will take steps to stop extortion, dope gangs and circulation of fake notes, said the minister.

The industries and commerce ministries will set the prices of rawhide and ensure its proper marketing, he said.
