18 engineers of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant dismissed following week-long unrest
From 28 April to 6 May, a section of NPCBL engineers staged protests, held human chains and rallies, reportedly demanding better service conditions and removal of its managing director

The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Company Bangladesh Limited (NPCBL) today (11 May) dismissed its 18 engineers for disobeying service rules following a week-long unrest.
The nuclear power plant authority also instructed the dismissed officials to leave the project area and its residential multi-storied building 'Green City' by today and not to come further.
Project site in-charge Ruhul Kuddus confirmed the news of the termination to BSS over the mobile phone.
Earlier, on Thursday, Md Jahedul Hasan, Managing Director of NPCBL, issued the termination orders in this regard. The termination letters were delivered via email to the Rooppur project site office on Friday.
The dismissals followed a prolonged period of agitation at the project site.
