The High Court has issued a stay order on setting up a temporary cattle market on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha in Dhaka's Aftabnagar.
The bench of Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque and Justice Aynun Nahar Siddiqua issued the order today (4 May) after hearing a writ petition filed by Advocate Md Yunus Ali Akand.
Akand filed the petition on April 25, challenging the lease notice for setting up a sacrificial animal market in the residential area of Aftabnagar.
Earlier, on 29 April, the High Court also issued a three-month injunction against setting up a temporary Eid cattle market on the vacant land beside the canal, east of Meradia Bazar in the Banasree area of Dhaka. The area is near Aftabnagar.
Last year, the High Court had also stayed the leasing process to set up an Eid cattle market at Aftabnagar.
