No drill, no fuss: Srijani’s Smart Fit Lampshades for any space
The lampshades are designed specifically for Bangladesh's most common bulb holders, which are strong enough to support weights of up to 400 grams

When hardware designer Md Shadman Sakib Chowdhury looked around his home, something always felt off. The harsh glare of bare bulbs clashed with the cosy aesthetic he craved. However, as a tenant, he could not make permanent changes to the lighting setup, let alone drill holes or install new fixtures.
Frustrated but determined, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
Though it began as a personal DIY project, the modular, portable lampshades that fit existing bulbs without rewiring, quickly caught the attention of friends and family. Encouraged by their feedback, Shadman refined his idea into a product that would soon become Srijani Smart Fit.
"Lampshades are an easy way to add warmth and personality to a room," said Shadman. "But the need for extra wiring or permanent fixtures often discourages renters. I wanted a solution that was stylish, safe, and most importantly, simple to install."
The Srijani Smart Fit is designed specifically for Bangladesh's most common bulb holders, B22 and E27 (also known as pin and patch holders), which are strong enough to carry up to 400 grams. That means users can effortlessly attach a stylish shade without needing tools, wires, or an electrician. Just plug it in and enjoy the glow.
"I wanted people to have the freedom to change their lighting style as easily as changing a pillow cover," Shadman said. "No more drilling or worrying about leaving marks on rental walls."

Each Srijani Smart Fit has two parts: the shade and the Smart Fit device. Initially, the shades were made from lightweight bamboo sourced from local artisans. Now, the brand is exploring new materials to manufacture its own line in-house. The team is also working on flat-packed packaging to lower delivery costs and minimise damage.
The Smart Fit device itself went through its own evolution. While early models were 3d-printed and assembled with parts from Dhaka's Old Town, growing demand pushed the team to scale up production using more efficient methods, without losing the locally sourced charm.
Today, Srijani Smart Fit offers five core designs, plus add-ons like wooden wall mounts and vintage-style filament LED bulbs. Prices range between Tk1,150 and Tk2,100, depending on design and customisation.
