Jucsu polls: Women’s halls see 61% turnout; Rokeya leads at 71%
Tensions escalated throughout the day as the Chhatra Dal-backed panel and three members of the Nationalist Teachers' Forum announced their boycott of the polls.

In the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (Jucsu) election held today (11 September), the average voter turnout across 10 women's halls stood at 61%, with Rokeya Hall recording the highest participation at 71% and Nawab Faizunnesa Hall the lowest at 49%.
Out of a total of 5,741 registered female voters, 3,530 cast their ballots.

The voting in the long-awaited Jucsu and hall union elections concluded this evening amid allegations of widespread irregularities, ballot stuffing, and administrative bias.
The vote counting began around 7:30pm.
The polls, which officially were scheduled to end at 5pm, dragged on in several halls, with ballot boxes starting to arrive at the Jucsu Election Commission office only after 5:30pm.
Voting reportedly continued in some centres until around 6pm.

Besides, four leftist panels and some independent candidates announced a boycott and called for a fresh vote.
The panels are Sangsoptok Parishad, Sampritir Oikya, Swatantra Ongikar Parishad, and Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, alongside over 20 independent candidates.
The Chhatra Shibir-backed "Somonnito Shikkharthi Jote" panel also raised several allegations of irregularities.
