The decision was confirmed in an office order signed by Acting Registrar ABM Azizur Rahman today.
Jahangirnagar University (JU) has named its Senate Hall in memory of Jannatul Ferdous, a teacher who died while performing official duties during the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) election.
The decision was confirmed in an office order signed by Acting Registrar ABM Azizur Rahman today (14 January).
According to the order, the university's Senate Hall has been renamed "Jannatul Ferdous Senate Hall" following a decision taken at a special meeting of the university syndicate held on 4 December 2025.
Jannatul Ferdous, 31, was an assistant professor in the Department of Fine Arts at Jahangirnagar University. During the JUCSU election, she was assigned as a polling officer at Pritilata Hall.
She passed away while carrying out her election-related duties, prompting widespread mourning across the campus.
