The senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Mokhlesur Rahman, has announced that dearness allowance for government employees will be declared within the current fiscal year. However, he did not specify the percentage of the allowance.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat today (9 January), the secretary, a member of the dearness allowance review committee, confirmed, "This time, pensioners will also receive the dearness allowance."
"The allowance will be added to the basic salary during increments," he said.
When asked about the timeframe, he assured, "The dearness allowance will certainly be provided before 30 June."
For further details on the percentage, he suggested consulting with the financial adviser and finance secretary.
The secretary could not confirm whether the existing 5% incentive for government employees would continue after the dearness allowance announcement, stating, "It is not appropriate to speculate. You may discuss this with the financial adviser and finance secretary."
