Govt appoints heads of 12 agencies, boards and corporations on contract
Eleven appointees get grade-2 status for one-year terms.
The government has made fresh contractual appointments to top posts of 12 important agencies, boards and corporations.
The information was disclosed in 12 separate gazette notifications issued last night (23 July), signed by Md Golam Rabbani, deputy secretary of the Contract and Foreign Employment Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration.
Except for the post of additional secretary at the Election Commission Secretariat, the heads of the remaining 11 institutions have been appointed with grade 2 status for one year.

According to the notifications, Md Salahuddin Sarker has been appointed as director general of Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation on contract with grade 2 status.
In the same grade, Mohammad Rashedul Haque has been appointed managing director of Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL), Mohammad Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul chairman of Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation, ATM Abdul Bari Danny chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), and Md Kamruzzaman (Kamruzzaman Dulal) executive secretary of Bangladesh National Social Welfare Council.
Besides, Abdul Khalek has been appointed chairman of Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation, Md Shamsuzzaman (Suruj) chairman of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation, Kazi Rawnakul Islam (Tipu) managing director of Bangladesh Climate Change Trust, Md Zakir Siddiki chairman of Bangladesh Handloom Board, Benazir Ahmed chairman of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), and Md Mamun Hasan chairman of Bangladesh Jute Corporation on contract for one year with grade 2 status.
Meanwhile, Md Samsul Alam has been appointed additional secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat on contract for one year.
The notifications said if the appointees are involved in any other profession, business, or government, semi-government, private institution or organisation, they will have to sever those ties before joining.
Their contractual appointments will remain effective for one year from the date of joining.
