Govt plans to set up police station in Basila to curb teen gangs: State minister
He also assured that arrangements would be made for playgrounds to ensure the healthy development of children and adolescents.
The government plans to establish a new police station in Basila to curb teen gangs and other criminal activities in the capital's Mohammadpur and Basila areas, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education and local MP Bobby Hajjaj said today (23 May).
He made the remark at a views-exchange meeting with leaders of Chand Udyan Housing and House Owners' Association and local residents in Mohammadpur.
The state minister said the initiative to set up a Basila police station has been taken as an effective step to improve law and order and curb teen gang activities in the area.
He also said that a series of meetings will be held with housing societies and house owners' associations across Mohammadpur to discuss local problems and prospects.
"We will take strict measures to build a clean and liveable area," he said, warning that action would be taken against those who dispose of waste on roads or outside designated places.
Emphasising public cooperation in development activities, Bobby said the government would not be able to implement infrastructure projects if residents do not cooperate in freeing up roads.
He also assured that arrangements would be made for playgrounds to ensure the healthy development of children and adolescents.
To strengthen security, he urged residents to install at least two lights in front of each house along the roadside and, if possible, set up CCTV cameras.
Responding to complaints over gas supply, the state minister said steps would be taken to resolve the issues quickly through discussions with Titas Gas authorities.
Local residents, leaders of house owners' associations and people from various professions were present at the meeting.
